Funny how Utah, one of only two states to score a zero on the Brady scorecard consistently is in the lowest portions of all of those stats. Hmm.

What I want to know is, when are we going to start regulating cars? 691 fatalities the last time I drove past an TDOT information sign. I mean, come on. :0) Sorry to hijack your thread. Just saw the TN numbers and this came to mind.

Old article, January 2011. I wonder why 'gun crime' is worse than any other crime? Is the murderer who uses a tire iron to bash someone's head in morally superior to the one who shoots his victim? Any time I hear the phrase 'gun crime', I figure it's a propaganda piece.

Think it's kinda funny how the Brits use US gun crimes to justify their bans.

The UK rates much higher each year for violent crimes. higher than Mexico even (granted, Mexico prolly doesn't report everything).

I don't think it's even fair to look at it by a state by state view. If you took Memphis out of TN, crime would drop dramatically. It's not really about the amount of people in a place, it's about WHO is there. And some cities tend to have a lot of criminals. Utah is low because it's filled with a bunch of, yes armed, people who have the morals to not attack each other for the most part. It's the same reason if you took Atlanta out of GA, the crime rate would be really low.

Ironic, isn't it?

Towns like Memphis and Atlanta are needed to give other towns like Nashville, Murfreesboro and Knoxville appear to have low crime rates.

Don't forget, this info is based on what each state submits, not actual rates. Until an independent party compiles the actual stats from each state, these charts will be a better indicator of which states fudge the truth.

Doctors kill more people than guns,

DOCTORS:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians pre year are 120,000.

© Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services.

GUNS:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80

million.

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups.

is 1,500.

© The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than

gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE

DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must

ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand.

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the

statistics on lawyers for the fear the shock would cause people to panic

and seek medical attention...
