I got offered a used sig 229 for $300 today. All I know is it's chambered in 40s&w and has 4 12 round "clips.". He said its the compact version and has the short rail on it. He needs to make his truck payment so this thing has to go.

The only sig I ever owned was a p250 and I hated it. I have never shot any of the other models. I have heard great things about them, but I have never really been bitten buy the sig bug.

So I just wanna know if I will be kicking myself if I pass this up?

Something smells rotton. Check the gun out very carefully, look for obvious problems. Make sure you have a bill of sale. Anyone who has access to the internet or walmart (thumb through gun digest in the books) can determine this gun to be a $500-$600 gun, plus those extra clips can be $25-$40 each. Desperation maybe, but $300, hmmm.

Something doesn't sound right .... He could easily get $500 for it in rough shape ...

You might want to meet him at a local gun store and have them run a background on the firearms ... It might be worth the extra transfer fee & TICS to make sure its clean.

Here is the pics he sent me. I am going to meet him tomorrow and pick it up. I figured it would be beat to hell and back but looks to be in good shape.

I dont understand why everyone thinks that something is wrong with buying a great gun at a super low price. I just want to throw out as a reminder that I bought my G19 gen2 for $225. Great deal. I did have the #'s run with a bill of sale. No problems.

I wish I could run across a deal like that...I'm jealous.

I agree. It is one thing to take advantage of someone, completely different to jump on a good deal. I bought my first two Sigs for similar prices in similar condition, but that was couple of years ago. I paid the price they asked, and we both slept fine.

Well i picked it up about an hour ago and now I just have to wait till I get some time to take it to the range. It's in great shape and he gave me 150 rounds of ammo. If it shoots a nice at it fells/looks then it is a keep for sure. Thanks for the advice.
