Springfield XD9sc and RIA Compact 1911 Initial thoughts

Purchased the Springfield XD9 subcompact about 2 weeks ago and the RIA about a month ago and love them both! They are absolutely fail proof and excellent shooters. I didn't have any reservations about the XD shooting well and being totally reliable, but the RIA 45 has totally amazed me.

I have about about 200 rds in the XD with Zero fails (both with brass and steel, fmj and hollow points).

Have about 400 rds in the RIA with Zero fails (both with brass and steel, fmj and hollow points).

Not really a review here, but wanted to provide my initial thoughts since I am new to shooting (had some previous but very limited shooting 20 yrs ago). I have "caught the bug" now and am looking for a pocket pistol on the days I will not be carrying my XD concealed and a 22 pistol for my son to plink with.

Thanks,

Newman

Good information, glad your happy with your purchases. The SA XD9 has a pretty good track record going for it. As for the RIA 1911, they're supposed to run like that out of the box but don't always do, the same applies to other 1911's as well. Whenever you come across a 1911 that runs flawlessly you should hang on to it. Good for you!

I have ownded 4 XD/XDm pistols. I still have two of them. None of them has ever given me the first hint of trouble. My only complaint is the stock trigger which has been taken care of on my current pistols, an XD9sc and XDm9 5.25. Now they are everything I ever hoped they could be.
