Hi Ramjo

Ain't making excuses for Omaba, but have been curious how many of those are "original work" from this admin. About a year ago tried to find out but if there is a page authoritatively explaining all the extant emergencies, couldn't find it. Apparently some of our states of emergency are secret and are authorized by congress in secret, so there isn't even a fully complete public list.

People have been complaining about our perpetual state of emergency a long time, both dems, republicans, independents. In order for the prez to ignore the constitution and law in a matter, it has to be a declared emergency. Years ago congress got so upset at all the perpetual states of emergency that they passed law that a state of emergency sunsets after one year and congress must give approval to continue it.

So there are states of emergency that have been in force for decades, but congress has to re-approve their extension every year. It is a nutty situation, ain't defending it.

You can search youtube and find videos of congress reading a presidential request letter for extension then voting the extension. But youtube doesn't have video of evey one. CSPAN has made their archive of footage searchable and so a person with sufficient patience could locate numerous declarations and extensions of states of emergency. Except the secret ones we don't even know about. I tried searching CSPAN for a few hours but it is a slow slog and would take a long time to find them all (since CSPAN started operation) unless a person was willing to put a lot of hours in fer free or got paid to come up with a full list.

The ones on youtube are kinda repetitive. There are some video clips of the same state of emergency getting re-approved on different years. Every year a congress functionary reads a letter from the whitehouse that might have slightly different introduction wording, and then reading the same "state of emergency" text that got read into the record every year since Reagan or Clinton or whoever originally declared that particular perpetual state of emergency.

So all I'm saying, it would be nice to find an expert who could list which of Obama's emergencies are original versus the ones declared by earlier presidents. Its not necessarily "sweeter" if some emergency might have been originally declared by some long-ago president. Just saying, if in actuality Eisenhower or Reagan originally thunk up certain emergencies, you could blame Omaba for re-delaring the emergency year-by-year, but it wouldn't be fair to blame him for inventing emergencies that were invented by earlier presidents.

Klein caught Wasserman Schultz in a lie yesterday after she falsely claimed that Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren had chastised Republicans as being “dangerous†for Israel.

Oren later denied that he had made those remarks, leading Wasserman Schultz to accuse Klein of fabricating her quotes.

“Unfortunately, that comment was reported by a conservative newspaper–not surprising that they would deliberately misquote me,†Wasserman Schultz said, during an interview with Fox News Tuesday.

oops.

wrong thread but it shows that most of the dems are bold face lairs and are proud of it.

As far as the arena venue being moved to the indoor thing because of the weather, an NBC affiliate weatherman

kinda disputed that with his forecast. They couldn't draw a large enough crowd for other, more obvious reasons.

They'd hate to see the messiah embarrassed by the shrinking number of acolytes.

Funny, though, that there are a group of women wearing stickers that say "I'm a slut". Now that's classy!
