After reading a good report on the 9mm version on the box of truth, I bought a box of 50 to test. I was surprised at how good this stuff seemingly is. Chrono results:

string 1: (5" barrel 1911)

1. 806

2. 811

3. 806

4. 794

5. 793 avg: 802 hi: 811 lo: 793 es: 18 sd: 8

At that point my chrono blew over and I gave up. Just too much wind. For some kind of comparison CCI ball velocity looks like this:

Mixed wolf in with CCI hard ball in several mags. 2 experienced .45 shooters could not tell the difference, although the CCI does clock a bit faster. No malfunctions or any weirdness over 50 shots. Seemed very consistent. Very good accuracy.

Conclusion: Either I got an exceptional lot of the stuff, or wolf .45 acp is just pretty good ammo. Time will tell I guess. I decided to pony up for 500 rounds and see. .45 is just too expensive for me at wally mart these days to pick up any of it.

Also, I've noticed that CCI blazer ball is not crimped strongly enough, imo. I haven't had any problems, but on a 1911 the bullet tends to get knocked into the case more than I like. So I'm crimping the ones I have left before I blow them off. Thank you Lee FCD.

Sounds like you had better luck with wolf ammo than i did. Could not hardly get it to shoot out of my colt or my ria 45. Lots of ftf and fte. I will never buy wolf ammo again!

Are you shooting Wolf Poly or Gold. By experience with the lower end Wolf ammo is that it is dirty. Ok to shoot just dirty.

I shoot Wolf pretty exclusively out of my AR and AK. Never had so much as a hiccup out of either.

Poly. I was looking for low cost.

I didn't have any trouble feeding it in the ar's, either. Although I only tried a 150 rounds I think it was. I didn't like the .223. Fired a shotgun pattern at low velocity.

Yeah, I have one 1911 that'll run it (I think)...and if worse comes to worse a revolver in .45acp to take care of it.
