Off the top of your head, what would you consider to be some of the most "iconic" 9mm pistols?

Give me just 3 examples....that way we can get more people to participate

Also, for the purposes of this thread, let's keep it to 9mm please

My list would include.....

CZ-75

Sig P226

Beretta 92

Sig 226

Imo.

Looks fairly agreed upon. But don't forget that the Luger is where it all came from.

This is pretty much on par with what I was thinking.....

What about the S&W's....like the Chiefs Special or along those lines?

I am weird when it comes to collecting/buying and right now I am on a 9mm kick.

I am wanting to purchase above said pistols...one of each iconic 9mm

By "iconic" do you mean one that has been around seemingly forever, or one that just sets the standard for all others? In either event, I'd vote as follows

1 Browning Hi-Power and all it's descendants, including the CZ line

2 Glock series 9's because they have become so recognizable as a quality, dependable pistol

3 Anyting else

Iconic?

1) Luger P-08. THE iconic 9mm

2) Glock 17 or 19. The second most-recognized 9mm.

3) Browning Hi-Power. The most-used 9mm in history. Used as primary military pistol by over 50 countries, innumerable police forces worldwide, and many copies were made, both licensed and unlicensed.

In semi-autos, except for .22s and .22 adapters, I stay with 9mm. Have a .45 1911 but it usually has a .22 slide on it. From the list so far, guess I'd need a sig 226. That is assuming a CZ-75 is "close enough" to a BHP. If a BHP is different-enough to deserve its own classification, then I guess a BHP as well.

Are P-38 mainly "of historical interest" like original lugers, or would a fella who just likes variety in range guns seek out a P-38 for some more practical reason? Think I read that you can still find small-run new-manufactured Lugers, but the price is so high maybe a fella would have to be pretty hard-core to seek one out just to have another flavor of range gun? Going on the assumption that not many people would buy a fine antique luger to routinely plink with?
