Ranier Arms Evolution handguards

I ordered one the other day came in and I would have to say is a solid rail from just viewing aspects.Kit uses a standard barrel nut and comes with all mounting hardware.Also includes a mount for a d ring for a sling,also comes with 2 different lengths pictanny rails.Will mount it up this weekend and get some pics.And another thing it doesnt break the bank either.

I've been very happy with everything I've gotten from those guys. Would be VERY surprised if this came in and failed to impress.

I got the Samson Evolution which I think is the same just different cutouts, great choice I love mine.

Do you guys with the Samson's run into the issue of the handguard slowly pulling away from the heat sink on the barrel nut? Every trip to the range, when I use a sand bag rest, the handguard slowly works away from the receiver and I have to reset it when I get home. Doesn't matter how tight I make the compression screws (yes the heat shield clamps are on correctly)

I haven't used mine much yet but I would probably put a couple of set screws in the sides if I had that problem.

What caliber you running Shorty?

Have you called Ranier/Samson? They are quick to answer the phone and probably have some good advice on how to resolve it. From looking at the websites it looks as though Rainier makes the rails for Samson as well as many others.

I would try contacting them first but if they give you no solution I would try some blue loctite around the heat sink then clamp down. I have also heard of people using sugar or snap line line chalk on slip fit itmes to keep them from coming loose. I have never used the chalk line but I do know that sugar can keep a barrel from twisting in the blocks.

Then if non of that works I would drill for a setscrew like Romad7 suggested. But rather than the sides I would do the top that way it is less noticeable.

I am glad you mentioned this because I am going to loctite mine just as a preventative measure. You need to use the loctite sparingly because it can eat aluminum if too much is used and it gets on bare aluminum. And in the world of loctite more doesn't always mean better.
