A Liquor Question . . . THE ANSWER!

A few months ago I posted that I came across a bottle of Old Forrester, never opened, and bottled in the year of my birth: 1955.

I asked feedback from you about whether this bourbon would be any good today, and I appreciate your responses, especially since I am not primarily a bourbon drinker.

My decision was to open the bottle on my birthday - today - I am a proud 57! - and try it out. The votes are now in and many of you wanted to know my response once I opened, and had a sip, of the bottle.

It is the SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHEST alcoholic beverage I have ever sipped.

No birthday cake, but my gift to myself in a few is a nice glass of this old bourbon on the rocks!

Thanks to all who responded!

Happy birthday! I love my bourbon and whiskey it would have been opened long before my birthday.

I just bought a bottle of "Booker" by Jim beam it is straight from the barrel unfiltered and uncut 126 or 129 proof. I walked in the door and had it opened within 10 minutes I now understand the term fire water when its straight. But over 2 cubes that stuff is smooth and amazing !

Well it's like I said, you can't best father time by being put in a glass bottle. Probably the best stuff I've ever drank was some aged scotch that was bottled than left for ten or so years in a box in the garage. Kind of wasted on me as I've never been much of a scotch drinker but that was gooood.

That Booker stuff sounds good, I'm going to have to try that out.

Happy birthday Lucky.

I'd like to see you buy a new bottle of Old Forrester and make a comparison on it. The buyers of it always say how good it is.

Was the bottle topper a cork?

Meant to say probably MY favorite. I have a bunch of them. Gun cleaning stuff, rolled coins, hardware, etc.

You should try Elijah Craig 18 and 12 year.

Woke up this morning to find a bottle of Speyburn single malt amongst my pile of gifts from the wife. Happy 10th anniversary to me! {and her :pleased: }

I have tried a lot of the small batch stuff. I kinda slowed my search when I discovered Booker's. It's not a slight preference. Elijah Craig was on my list. Just never got there. Not saying I won't, just saying I'm not looking.
