Found another brand --- National Ordnance, the carbine is a 68-ish vintage.

I have found some info via the net, anybody with 1st or 2nd hand experience?

Thanks again

Garufa gave you some sound advice in your other thread. If you're wanting an M1 carbine, shell out the coin and get a decent milsurp. You'll be glad you did.

We have several guns, but the M1 Carbines are favorites among my entire family.

Thanks for all the info, help and guidance. I was set on an "OEM" but distracted by the AO and recently the Natl Ord. Got a line on a Standard or an Inland and I get paid Friday...
