Who can we attribute that pearl of wisdom to? Almost sounds like a quote from Lazrus Long, aka Robert A. Heinlien. No sarcasm intended or meant...just curious.

Thanks to both Chucktshoes and Sour Draut for educating me on this. Still think it sounds like something out of the Heinlein Universe; just so simplistic in form and phrasing, but so full of meaning.

I don't really buy it being a TJ quote. I agree it does sound a whole lot like something Lazarus Long/Heinlein would say.

Sounds like something pretty much any older main character from Heinlein would say. Long, Farnham, Col. Campbell/aka/Ames, Lt. Razak, etc.

I've often gotten the feeling that Heinlein was constantly writing story's about one particular alter ego.

I've also thought that most lead females are based partly on his wife's finer attributes. It's almost eerie how similar yet different his characters were.
