Had A Little Fun This Week

Recommended Posts

This old fart had the unfortunate life changing experience of turning sixty (60) last Tuesday. Hell, I can barely count that high...

Anyway, I thought I would run into town and buy me a 12 pack of something carbonated, tasty, 6% alcohol by content and in a blue and white 12 ounce can. My intention was to drink each and everyone of them on the back deck and sing, "Happy Birthday to Myself"

So, I drive to town to the local stop & rob gas station / convenience store. I've been here so many times getting diesel, beer, soda, snacks and stuff, they know me by first name. Sure enough, the gal I've done business with many times asks, "I'll need to see your identification to purchase that".

Well, I know the law and she is just doing her job but, I feel like a little harassment since it was not busy at all and I was the only one in line. And at my age you're not happy unless you're giving pretty young woman a hard time.

After I presented my drivers license and she looked at it and verified I was indeed older than 21, I paid for my 12 pack of making me feel 40 again for a couple of hours after rapid consumption.

I then asked, "doesn't it make you feel awkward to have to ask for identification because TN state law says your too stupid to tell an old man from a young whipper snapper"?

She replied, "No, as a matter of fact, just a few minutes ago a couple fisherman came in and tried to purchase beer. It was a father and son, the father didn't have his identification on him and he appeared to be about 60 or so. The son had to purchase the beer".

Mind you, I had just given the cashier my drivers license for age verification, then I asked, "how old do you think I am"?

With a classic smirk and hee haw, she replied, "54 or 55 maybe"

Now that's "feel good legislation I can live with"

With that, I left her a five dollar tip for putting up with my B.S.
