Tell me about CZ shotguns.

I don't have much experience with shotguns. This morning I made a serious mistake. Went to the range and shot a few rounds of trap with a buddy. Surprisingly I didn't suck at it.

So now I'm thinking I'd like an over/under. I've always favored that configuration. I've had a lot of luck with CZ rimfires and am thinking about their shotguns.

What's the consensus on the CZ?

I don't own one, but have been pretty impressed with their double guns, especially for the price. I have not been impressed with their semi-auto fit and finish, but they seem to be a copy of the Beretta 390 action.

CZ shotties (at least the O/U's) are made by a Turkish company called Huglu. I've never shot one, but understand them to be a really good value. Older ones supposedly had some issues, but I'm not sure what "older" really is so take that with a grain of salt. Also, try to shoot some different guns before committing to purchasing. Gun feel varies greatly from maker to maker. If you are patient, you can find used Beretta's and Brownings for less than a thousand.

Well I broke down and bought one.

I've shot clays a grand total of 3 times now. I got 10 out of 25 the first time, 12 out of 25 the second time (with the new CZ), and 19 out of 25 this morning.

It's a nice little shottie.
