They're living in a fantasy land.

That's what I say. If we have to use our weapons, it will be for those dang zombies. Got me a big box of those ZombieMax bullets. They're the best.

Some people here want a revolution started.

I get to be involved in revolution every time I vote. If I have to get shot at I would prefer it to be on a different continent; not in close proximity to where my family sleeps.

If he were to have go crazy and shoot up a bunch of people there would be a thread saying "well he was threatening to on the internet for everyone to see and our tax dollars did nothing to stop it" or something along those lines...

I guess the founders were also living in a fantasy land, since protection from government tyranny was the reason they included the 2A in the Bill of Rights.

I guess they'll be coming for me,

also.

There must be a new charge,

"Suspicion of craziness". No 1st

Amendment protection any more.

Nice straw man.

I never said it might not be necessary under some circumstances, but we have the ability to cause change that they did not - the voting booth. Besides that, they didn't WANT to take up arms against the crown, they simply felt they had no other choice.

Those who want a revolution (a la 1775 and following) are simply dreaming of being Rambo, ignoring the horrors of what it would really be like.

Just a couple of observations...

  • No one here knows the whole story of what this marine did or said...I suspect that there is more to this than a few Facebook posts (and I certainly hope there is).

  • Nothing you say on the internet (including in email) should be considered private...once it's said and sent it's out there, somewhere, forever - regardless of the rightness or wrongness of this particular action against this marine, we would all do well to remember that.

  • The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees you freedom of speech...it does not and never has guaranteed you a platform from which to speak, an audience to hear what you have to say nor a guarantee of no consequences for what your say.

Only a few. I've turned liberal and I believe in sharing, now. :D

I'm not advocating anything, but, when do you think that point will be reached that something will/may cause an event

to happen? slow tyranny is the most destructive kind. It's been going on for probably better than a hundred years. We

let this keep up and where do we end up?

Again, I'm not calling for anything. That would be the last thing on my mind. I'm too old for that crap.

No idea, but I think I'll know it if I ever see it.

I hope you do. I also hope I do. I have a feeling it will sneak up and bite us all in the ass, though.

If you don't have your eyes open, you won't.

Are you suggesting that I'm walking about with my eyes closed because I don't think it's time to take up arms in revolution?

Well, better to wait to long than not long enough. I can't get the seeming lust some have to get into some sort of 'revolutionary war'. Too many video games and movies is all I can figure.

What's so odd is how few of these conversations I heard amongst the conservatives and libertarians when Bush was in office. Not casting stones or suggesting anything (other than bias), but Bush did more to harm our liberties than Obama has. Whether it's the Patriot Act or rampant spending (including the bailouts / TARP), Bush set us on the path of destruction like no president in history, yet I never heard folks talking about 'the end of our way of life' or 'the end of American' when he was blowing our liberties and our future out of the water...

Maybe I just didn't have my eyes open.

He said he wanted someone to come pick him up. That is what happened.

My thoughts exactly... also don't forget it was a free ride with some free meals and pills.

I think there were plenty of people complaining about GWB's actions; just not enough of them.

That's why even if Romney wins the Tea Party will need to hold their feet to the fire and be just as vocal and just as active as they have been. The RNC is scared to death of what the Tea Party represents and that's a very good thing.
