Any Motorcycle Riders Here?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a local group to ride with on the weekends. I've been riding a lot here lately, but it's getting a bit boring riding solo. I haven't joined the local H.O.G group (The Dragon Chapter) yet even though I do plan to do so soon. Anyone here belong to that group?

I have only lived here for about 14 months, so I don't know anyone. I'm planning to take a ride out into the mountains this weekend.

Anyone wants to ride shoot me a message.

You're a bit far from me. I ride every day unless it's raining. I'd like to ride The Dragon but I think I need more experience before I do that. I am very fortunate to live close to The Natchez Trace.

anybody can ride the dragon. it is not hard of a road to ride. they keep the speed down with all the troopers on it now. it is hard to get over 30 mph on it. they say the hard road is the skyway next to the dragon. but to me both roads are ease to ride. it is a great place to spend the weekend.

There are a lot of organized rides that start out and/or end at Smoky Mountain HD. For a relaxing day out on the road, I'll take the Blue Ridge Parkway over the Dragon anytime.

Best to hit up the gap early on Saturdays if you go at all on the weekends. All the late night drinkers with hangovers and out of town traffic start getting up there a bit before lunchtime then it's craziness until about 8 pm. Tues/Wed are the absolute best days to go, that's when most of the locals go up.

If you want to meet up some people from the area check out http://www.easttnbikers.com/, lot of cool people there and they do a lot of meets and events... We usually keep that place pretty civil and don't let any of the tards come around.

Neither road is hard to ride. I have a sportbike and make it to east TN a couple times a year. I have no problem riding the dragon as hard or fast as I want, just not on Sat afternoon when the tourists are there.

The skyway is a great road, its capable of triple digit speeds and it is also patrolled, ask me how I know...

There are lots of better roads that aren't nearly as heavily enforced as those two.

There is a group called the volunteer riders or something like that. Good people. Go to meetup.com and search for them. I ride almost every day and at weird hours. Did 200 miles before 8am this morning

The Dragon is not that bad. I have been there several times (it's only 20 miles from my house). As long as you ride like you got some sense then you will be fine. The ones that die are the ones that think they are at a race track. The Dragon is not a forgiving place. When you run off the road you will hit a tree, go off the side of the mountain, or both. My advice is to ride at your skill level and keep a close eye out for the vehicles and motorcycles that sometimes come around the corner on your side of the road. Lots of people have been hit head-on like that.

To me, it's just another extremely curvy road. The skyway is not hard either. It takes you to much higher elevations, but it is no more curvy than The Dragon. It's just a good long scenic ride. I think it is a must for any motorcycle rider to ride it at least once. There are some many places to ride here it's not even funny. Every weekend can be a new adventure.

I will definitely do that. Thanks. I will also check out the American Legion too. I honestly just need to get off my butt and go to a Dragon Chapter meeting.

I'm 33 and have been on two wheels since I was twelve. Currently ride a Yamaha R1. I'd recommend the Skyway over the dragon any day....

the old hellbender 28 is one of the best roads to ride in the area. the sky way is first, the hellbender 28 second, and the dragon is third.
