Decisions, decisions...

First off, sorry that I don't post very often. I like to read and enjoy much of what you guys guys discuss...

Secondly, I've got a decision to make. I got a heck of a deal today on a S&W Model 65-5 .357 Magnum, which is my favorite caliber, although this is currently the only one that I now own. (caliber... not pistols) What I'm really wanting though, is an LCR in .357 Magnum.

My problem is, I've got such a sweet deal on this one that I'll never be able to replace it for this price, BUT... I've never really wanted a K-frame S&W other than my S&W Model 10, in .38 Special; a gift from my dad... so it's a keeper.

Would you keep this one, or consider trading it for the LCR?

You going to carry the LCR? If not, the S&W is better in every other way apart from concealment. The LCR is small and stout 38s are pretty rough shooting it, 357 is downright abusive, all it is good for is defense.

So the only way *I* would trade them would be if planning to carry the LCR. If you want it that badly and would not use the S&W, or whatever other logic, if it makes sense to you, trade.

You've got to go with what makes you feel good. What will make you happy. What feels good in your hand. We all have opinions and for me, it would be the S&W.

Wish I still had an LCR to trade you for that 65-5. They are real sweet guns. That being said, I'd vote for keeping the Smith if at all possible. LCRs will drop in price as time goes by. I don't see the 65 going down in price around me. And no, I don't hate the LCR: I've owned 2 of'em. Just never really warmed up to them. They do have a place as a liteweight carry gun, just not in my place.

But if possible, wait and save up for the lcr...but that's just my opinion. It may not be what's right for you.

I agree completly. I will always trade a glock for a classic. In most cases, the older the revolver the better it shoots. Glocks are great but they make a ton of them daily and i highly doubt they will ever be hard to come by.

I have carry guns that I like, both semi-autos (LCP, and LC9)... but I really like relovers too, and thought that I'd like to have the LCR (or even the S&W 642). I think I'll hang onto it, take it out shooting a few times to see how she shoots. If it shoots as well as my Model 10, then I guess I'll have to keep it.

Still would like to have the LCR though.

Keeping the Model 65 would be my choice as well, an LCR can alway's be obtained at a later date.

As everyone else has recommended, keep the S&W, never get rid of a hard to find item, specially if you got it for a really good price, unless you are in a real bad jam.

I like LCR's...but I'm in not hurry to shoot a .357 that light.

Get and keep the S&W. SAVE UP! As, a local comedian says, and then get the LCR. The saving up for it will add "value" in personal view, to the LCR.

The LCR 357 is not a fun gun to shoot with 357mag and add the waisted energy with such a short barrel it makes me wonder why they have sold so many. It is nice knowing you can shoot 357's if you have to.

I am anything but a LCR hater, I wish my 642 had as good of a trigger as my LCR does.
