GM still need CPR

Nope! Ford cannot legally remove it. Red key changes things like lopey idel, engine braking, throttle response, and other parameters. It's fun to drive the red key, but ts not good for rush hour. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money for the red key since there's CAIs with tunes that give a little more power, remove the speed limiter, and gives you what the red key does.

Please post a picture of you Boss. I'd love to see one. I think I saw you driving on OHB in Hermitage one afternoon. Sweet ride.

Last month I purchased I new Toyota Tundra. First I stopped by the Chevy dealership. I told the salesman I wanted to look at decently equipped trucks for under $35,000. I figured, based on my past experience buy about 16 new vehicles, that an MSRP marked $35,000 truck could be had, with incentives and negotiating, for about 28. I tell him the only requirements I have is I do not want any black or white trucks, nor anything thats a basic work truck. The salesman was a straight up jackass. First thing he does is point out a 1500 White basic work truck. And its over 30! So I tell him to show me something with more options, power windows, etc. He brings around a $43,000 truck. OK, its nice, but the body style is pretty plain jane so I ask him what kind of incentives are they offering. None. What could they take off the MSRP? Nothing. So I ask "So your telling me that your selling your trucks at full MSRP with no incentives?". Yep. Well, I went straight to Toyota, got a maxed out V-8 4 door for under 30. I owned an 08 Tundra and really like them anyway. Last week my wife went and traded in her Sorrento for an Optima EX-GDI. I was standing outside talking to one of the Finance guys and we got to talking about my experience with the Chevy dealer. Turned out he and three of the Kia salesman had quit Chevy on the same day and moved over to Kia. After I told him about the other experience, he says "You know why it was that way? Because they dont care if they sell any vehicles. Taxpayer dollars are propping up their lots and the Government is buying all of their vehicles. They dont need to sell to the average consumer, so they dont budge on anything". Couple of days ago I heard on Hannity the same thing in the OP's link.

I heard someone say, the other day, that when GM's fleet sales dry up, the company would probably fold without

more government intervention. Judging by all the Metro PD Chevys, and other PD's, I believe it.

The UAW took major wage and benefit reductions in order for GM to survive. "Union" workers are the middle class. GOOGLE 8 hour workday or 40 hour workweek and see where these taken-for-granted standards originated. Before the "Bailout" GM posted record profits for years selling SUV's, of course these profits resulted in dividends for their shareholders. Do the shareholders give GM money when they need it? NOPE. Do the middleclass bluecollar UAW accept lower wages and benefits? YES

Me, I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion, "Made In Mexico" is what you'll see if you crawl under it in several locations. Also have a 1982 Chevy S-10 that I'm working on for my 13 year old son. 100% Made In America by Americans using American materials.

UNION = Middle Class Blue Collar Jobs

What qualifies as Middle Class? I know many of us believe were middle class, I'm pretty sure I'm not but am curious as to the minimum yearly wage to be considered Middle Class. I was tracking $250,000.

The UAW did a backroom deal with the POTUS in order to save THIER jobs and the jobs of the old Union Guard. They did this on the backs of the Tier 2 Union Members who DID NOT accept it and protested at all of the plants. What the UAW leadership did was give Tier 2 employees a 50% pay cut to $14.50 per hour, while keeping Tier 1 employees and leadership at a minimum of $28 and hour, their normal wages. The fact is, the UAW leadership, who are about as criminal as they can be (And always have been) knew GM was serious about going bankrupt. They screwed the younger employees to save themselves. Those Tier 2 workers make up over 40% of the UAW. Another fact is the UAW didnt save anything. We, the taxpayers put out all those billions, we, the taxpayers are the ones stuck with 500 million shares of nearly worthless stock and we, the taxpayers are going to take another multi billion dollar hit to the wallets while UAW leadership sits up on their pedestals and collects taxpayer dollars. The UAW and Unions in general are as worthless as teats on a bull. I grew up in a Union family in Maryland, Longshoreman (ILA), GM (UAW, my uncle John Stephens was the head of the entire GM plant in Baltimore), Sparrows Point (Steelworkers Union). I myself was a member of Local 333 at age 18 and my father was a Union Delegate for the ILA. I know something about Unions. The days of the need for Unions has come and gone.

I'm sure that's what the UAW want's people to believe. However, GM's wage structure is still uncompetitive with almost all other manufacturers and that isn't because they took such hefty wage cuts!

Other than IPOs stockholders don't and aren't supposed to "give money" to the company. Bondholders do, bondholders did and bondholders gut fu***d.

And, "middle class" has nothing to do with whether someone is or isn't or is eligible to be a "union" worker.

And I drive a Nissan made in Mississippi and the all-American icon, the Chevy Camaro is made in Canada. The point is, are these cars being made by steeling my money from my pocket? In GM's case they are.

Thanks but as a corporate finance retiree of a major auto manufacturer I'll believe what my own brain tells me which in this case is that GM has survived only because they were and ARE being supported, involuntarily, by taxpayer dollars.

GM posted record profits (and dividends to it's shareholders) before the price of gas shot through the roof. Not the UAW's fault that GM put all of it's eggs in one basket and distributed quarterly profits to shareholders when it should have been focusing on it's whole lineup.

Did the shareholder's give back their dividends or loan GM money? NOPE

Did the UAW agree to work for substantially less money and benefits? YES

For the record I own 2 vehicles. A 2000 Ford Excursion 4WD XLT, with more Made In Mexico cast metal parts and wiring harnesses than I thought before I started repairing it. And a 1982 Chevy S-10 with 100% Made In America by Americans using 100% American materials. It's a project for my 13 year old son and I. He ccouldn't understand how a S&W knife could be made in China, and is now obsessed with only buying American products. An 1982 S-10 was the best I could find with my 3 figure budget.

Before bashing unions we should all Google things like 8 hour workday and 40 hour workweek. See where they originated from. Union = Blue Collar Middle Class.

Bet most people are unaware that President Reagan was President of his union before President of the United States of America.....

I seriously have my doubts about Metro Nashville swapping from Crown Vics to Chevys without some form of

political intervention. GM doesn't have enough of a lineup to keep afloat considering it's debt, but the taxpayer

will remain on the hook because of you know who.

Absolutely!

Bankruptcy laws are there for a reason. They allow a company to reorganize and come out leaner and more profitable.

What "The One" did was illegal to begin with. We will never get all the tax money back.

It appears that some also forget that Ronald Ragan broke the air traffic controllers union. Unions have done some very good things; no one has said otherwise. At the same time, many unions are totally useless today and exist only for the sake of existing; other are totally corrupt (keeping in mind that I'm talking about the leadership; not the guys in the trenches).

Getting back to GM, the UAW, because of its idiocy, had a significant part to play in GM's demise but no one ever said they were the only problem. At the same time, they certainly were not part of the solution either.

If you want to think the UAW is the shining knight in this mess you can certainly think that but I've looked at GM's financial records (in part because until a few months ago it was part of my job) and their financial records don't support that conclusion.

Someone I know once said that there is nothing wrong with a car company that good products can't fix...unfortunately, GM could make the best cars in the world but if it can't sell them at a price people are willing to pay and still make a profit then the company is doomed. GM is a failed company and thanks to its management, the UAW and BHO, it still has its daemons to face whereas if it had been allowed to fail and go through a true bankruptcy, it could be well into recovery mode right now rather than relying on government contracts and GE buying all its product.

After a couple hours of Googling, I realize how extremely misinformed I am.

UAW's senior leadership deserve to be fired.
