Question about HCP

Hello all,

I'm scheduled to take my permit class on Sunday and I have a question. The ONLY thing I may have in my background which I am concerned about is that I may have an unpaid parking ticket. If that is the case, will that be enough to earn me a "rejection" for my HCP? Or do they not even bother with a non-moving violation like that? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

If you have the cash to take the class and apply for the permit then why not just pay off the parking ticket to be certain?

It is my understanding that an unpaid parking ticket MAY be cause to deny your application for your Carry Permit.

Why not call and get it taken care of?

You're probably right. I've suspected that at least one denial on a purchase was from some unpaid fine or other.

It doesnt seem quite right to deny a constitutional right to someone over a parking ticket.

Of course you can go ahead and take the class. The certificate from the class is good for 6 months. So after the class, but before you apply for the HCP, take care of the ticket.

+1

Take care of the ticket!!!!!!

Thanks all,

That was the info I was looking for. As a normal thinking human, I wouldn't see a correlation...but knowing how the gubment works, it was nagging at me. I don't know if I have an unpaid ticket or not, don't remember...but I'll certainly check into it before I go to the DMV. Thanks again.

I'm not going to question the information given in this thread, but if an unpaid parking ticket is grounds for denial of an HCP, something is terribly wrong with this system.

:D
