Can you point to a place where I can see the preventative law? Can we push to change this, as it is a problem, which will only get worse in time?

And yes, they are quite tasty. Wonder if wild pig is more flavorful than farm.

I think they are better tasting than farm hog, and a lot leaner also. No changing the law right now anyways. I can tell you two places that allow you to kill hogs while hunting other species.

LBL while hunting all species with the legal weapon for those species.

Fort Campbell with a weapon legal for DEER duing the deer season. Everyone else loves the fact that the hogs reproduce faster than rabbits and destroy habitat. As they can't be hunted except by the property owner whom originaly released the porkers onto thier property to begin with!

Landowners may use the following methods without exemption:
  1. Any legal weapon and ammunition for taking big and small game during
    daylight hours.
  2. Live traps with bait. Bait may not be used during big game seasons without
an approved exemption. All targeted wild hogs must be dispatched before
    removal from the trap.

Landowners will be granted an exemption to the above upon request.

  1. Landowners may request a wild hog methods exemption by two means:

    1. Immediate issuance of an exemption when landowners provide information to
agency personnel on the phone. The exemption form number issued will serve
as their proof of exemption until the hardcopy arrives by mail.
    2. Landowners may visit a regional office or request an officer visit to complete a
      request for exemption

[*]Landowners, family members legally allowed to hunt the property without a license,

and up to 10 designees may assist in the control effort provided by the methods exemption. No more than 10 individuals may be used as designees annually, as defined by the TWRA’s fiscal year.

[*]The exemption will allow shooting at night with the aid of artificial light, shooting over bait during big game season, or any other methods, approved by TWRA. Dogs may be used as part of the experimental management program in Overton, Fentress, Cumberland and Pickett counties, but no dogs may be used during November or December.

[*]Landowners must keep accurate records of total number of hogs killed on their property. This information must be provided to the TWRA on the provided Wild Hog Methods Exemption Report form provided by the agency within one month of exemption expiration

I think the reason they put the limit of 10 hunters per year is to prevent people from releasing hogs for the purpose of canned hunts. If they are going to have canned hunts they are going to book as many people as possible but with a limit of 10 per year that limits them.

If they wanted to get rid of the feral hog problem they need to make taking them at any time and any place, as long as it is safe, legal. I would go even farther and make it a legal requirement to anyone hunting any other species to shoot any hog they see on sight.

I agree with this. I work with wildlife quite a bit. The current method of hog control in this state is not working. I'll give it a couple years, and wild hogs are going to be a MAJOR issue! It's going to come down to "shoot on site". It has to!

I was out today Trout fishing, and seen hogs in an area that they have NEVER been seen in before. But Oh, wait.....NOT hunting hogs is working....is it?
