They are stating the shooter was using "Automatic Weapons", I imagine there will be more non sense being spewed in the next few weeks. I just wish the media wouldn't report something if it's not stone cold fact. But that's not how they operate, it's about those ratings.

Video from the copter showed an AR style rifle laying near a car on the ground, doesn't say if it's good guys or bad.

That sure is a wealth of information reported?

It's early. There will be plenty of details laced with anti-gun BS forthcoming. I hope Poose Morgan hops a plane to Texas, so somebody can give him his well deserved slap in the mouth.

I think he is smarter than to set foot in Texas.

I can wish. Starting to look more like a plain old shootout with the cops, with strays hitting a civilian or two.

Now saying the suspect has died.

Yeah, saying total 3 dead: perp, cop, civilian female male. Seems to have come about due to serving an eviction notice.

Although any loss of life is tragic how is this any worse than the killings that go on, in greater number every day in Chicago? Detroit ? What about the near daily killings here in Memphis ? Why does this shooting warrant national attention? Maybe it does because a LEO was killed and that to me is the saddest part of what happened. Is the fact that it happened near Texas A&M relevant to the story ? The way this is being reported is just another attack against us, the gun owners of America.

A LEO is killed about once a week in the US, most get no national coverage at all.

However, this one was a 30 minute gun battle. Perp apparently sprayed a bunch of rounds in the neighborhood. Little more newsworthy I'd say.

Totals now:

- Dead: sheriff's "constable" (who was serving eviction notice) and a 65 year male (neighbor or passer by) and perp

- Wounded: another LEO (among those who answered the call) 55 year old female (neighbor or passer by)

- Two other LEO's were "injured", no confirmation if by gunfire or other way during the gunfight

Dunno if the dead LEO should be considered any more lamentable than the dead neighbor, though.

It's shameful if it is true that one LEO is killed each week and it goes goes unreported. The articles I read referred it to a "prolonged" gun battle which told me nothing. It could have been been 5 minutes or 5 hours for all I could tell, and you are right that the death of of the shooters neighbor is in no way diminished just because the officer was killed. Thanks for the insight Mac.
