.445 supermag

anybody know anything about this? what purpose does it serve?

i've only heard it mentioned on here once and while browsing the CZ/Dan Wesson website, i saw that DW makes 2 revolvers chambered for this. Supposedly its just a lengthened .44mag as the cylinder will take .44spl., .44mag, and .445 supermag.

has this caught on and i havent heard about it or is it just a wildcat catridge that someone commercially made a revolver for? OR is it just so new that nobody else knows about it.

why not .454casull and not this? or even .460S&W?

ive never seen ammo available for it anywhere either.

I have lusted after one for a while.

It is a proprietary cartridge for Dan Wesson. I dont know why it didnt catch on. Yes, you can shoot .44mag and spc in it. It reaches its use in silhouette matches, esp in the really long barrel versions. Obviously a hunting cartridge as well.

This cartridge basically gives 44 Magnum Carbine performance from a handgun.

The 454 Casull is more useful, and is available in factory loads.
