Those used to fly all around us off the coast of Miami. Pretty cool until they land in the boat and freak out your girlfriend!!

flying fish are very common in the Atlantic in warm waters. I always saw them when out on dive boats. Can't say one ever came into the boat though. Definitely cool to watch. Dolphin riding off the bow of the boat was extra cool.

Strangely I have never heard of a flying fish but I have heard of a walking fish

We used to get Walking Catfish in Florida. After a heavy rain, they would swim up the overflowed drainage ditches, get stranded and try to "walk" back to water. Most of them would make it, but some weren't so lucky. We would then get to enjoy the smell of rotting fish for a week. UGH!
