My dads was issued sept 3rd and still waiting.....

Well, someone told you it was, anyway. Most folks have little trouble with that office, I've had nothing but disinformation. Even with renewal. See #2, 5, 10.

And this was smooth compared to 4 years ago.

My renewal took 15 days from the time I walked out of the DMV to my mailbox.

When I got mine initially it took about 3 weeks. I submitted for it on November 2nd, 2008 (When Obama was elected) and received it on the 22nd I believe.

Pardon my getting a bit off topic... I'm going to an HCP class this Saturday in M'boro. I know I have to obtain a permit application from DMV, but where do I get fingerprinted?

They'll tell you where at DMV. You pay for app at DMV, give them class certification first, fingerprints are included in the $115, they give you a doc to take to fingerprint place. Probably a UPS Store or similar, maybe choice of several depending on where you are. Fingerprint place sends them electronically then you're done.

I have to say it was the easiest thing I've done concerning regulations with the state. My renewal should be, as well.

It's sitting somewhere on someone's desk, as we speak.

This may help someone. My wife, and her two cousins took their class at the same time. The next day her cousins turned theirs in, my wife didn't for about a week.

Her cousins got their's in under two weeks. It had been a month or so and my wife had not recieved hers. So I called to check. They were showing it had been issued for over two weeks. Turns out they had a different "mailing" address down for her drivers license than her "actual" address ON her drivers license. Didn't know that was even possible. So they had mailed it out 10 days after recieving her information, it had come back, and they were waiting for contact I guess to see where to mail it to. I had to type up a letter stating what her new address was, have her sign it, and fax it to them. She then got her license a week or so later.

I work with law enforcement, so my figer prints were already on file. I took my prints to the DMV same day I done the app. Lady at DMV stated this is great turn around time will be much faster. Took right at 80 of the 90 days to get my permit. That was pure ridiculous, I know there is nothing on my history period. Should have never took that long.

You guys complaining about 80 to 90 days, are spoiled. Back in year 1 of Tennessee handgun permit '95 or '96, it took close to 5 months before I got mine. Relax, chill, be patient. Zombies can wait.

Just recieved my permit in the mail this afternoon. I went to the DMV and got finger printed on the same day. It took 26 days for my permit to arrive.
