"The case for Gun Control"

I'll have to agree with you guys, especially since there is no case for gun control unless you are wanting

to have a totalitarian government. There is no other valid argument.

This is simple pandering. Remember, he is a member of the Media. They must do whatever to ensure people buy from their advertisers. So, they have to get people's attention by writing such. Its only business.

Flagrant plagiarism. Further proof Fareed is a tool.

On the subject of that worthless rag Time magazine, did anyone see the last issue that came out right after the Aurora shootings? I thumbed through it briefly at an airport a couple of weeks ago and probably disturbed some random people near me when I expressed disgust at the picture I saw. There was a center-spread picture of a 100 round AR mag with a caption that said something like "here is the weapon shown fill size".

Apparently he has now been suspended for a month as well as his column for this plagiarism.

Yep. Is that a suspension without pay?

In school I would have gotten an F, suspended, possibly paddled and held back for a year. Don't you just love seeing cheaters get a slap on the wrist?

I saw this in the library. The caption says, this image is larger than the actual "weapon," to imply that the magazine is a weapon alone. I read the article, and it was somewhat interesting. I think the title of the article is, "How the Gun Won," with the premise that the "gun" has won against the attempts to control it, i.e. gun control. They talked about why politicians don't want to touch gun control and referenced the Clinton era as the last successful passing of significant legislation, but specifically, what passing that legislation resulted as in the next election. In my opinion, where the article really went wrong is that they blamed the NRA and other gun lobbies for getting the politicians, who voted for it, voted out of office on the next election. They basically blamed the NRA for no more significant gun control. Where I think their argument fails is that they do not make the connection to who actually voted these people out. The who is the majority. For some reason, maybe it's the ostrich approach, these people cannot understand that the majority of the populous either oppose gun control or feel that there are more immediate and more pressing issues at hand. Another interesting piece to the article is that the data presented shows a rather consistant number of mass shootings and victims before, during, and after the assault weapons ban. I cannot remember if they briefly touch on that, but it was certainly glassed over in the interest of the article. There is another article on gun control or violence in the same issue, but I have not read it.

I didn't catch if it was or was not. I got suspended for failing a class due to a learning disability, but apparently in the real world they just put you on leave. :squint:
