Romney's 2nd Amendment history?

Recommended Posts

Obamney 2012, whichever one wins is what we get. And personally, I think Obama is going to win it. Mitt has no personality and his best slogan is "at least I am not obama". Mit is competing with biden for open mouth, insert foot one liners as we head into the last couple of months. If Mitt's VP pick does not stir up some excitement, I think he will lose it.

Why do you think they're waiting so long? If they make a good pick, they'll get a bump. Trick is to make the bump last long enough that it doesn't fade by election day. Nothing lasts with the heavily funded smear machine.

Woe...is this Romney is no different/no better than Obama ever going to stop?

Is it supposed to be news here that Romney isn't as pro-Second Amendment as Ted Nugent or doesn't fit the perfect pro 2A mold enthusiasts want?

Do you really think that someone who signed an assault weapons ban for MA and supported a waiting period (which about EVERY politician did until the instant system went into effect) is as anti 2A rights as someone who actually voted against a citizen even being allowed to keep a weapon in his own home for defense?

Obummer will sign ANY anti-second amendment legislation that hits his desk, Romney may or may not IF any reaches his desk. Obama will almost certainly PUSH for new 2A restrictions, I truly doubt Romney will (if only because trying to salvage our economy is going to be center stage for a long time).

Even if 2A is the ONLY issue you care about, Romney is still the better choice even if the difference isn't as much as you want.

However, I can't believe that 2A is the only issue important to people, even people on TGO and if it is, then I'd suggest you start digging some spider holes and ammo-cashes because with unending $Trillion deficits as far as the eye can see, 2A issues are going to be the least of our worries.

I haven't seen the evidence to support that conclusion.

And you may never get the chance. Tennessee will go red, no matter what. If Romney does win the whole thing, and it's a big if, he'll either be better or worse than Obamaloney. THEN we need to have the conversation. At this point, the whole board could write in Basil, and Romney will still carry the state.

I think the point isn't this state; it's the swing states. Don't think people in swing states read forums in this state. As you pointed out DaddyO could vote for Bugs Bunny and it doesn't make a difference, but there's plenty of other states where that's not true, and hopefully those on the fence or those like DaddyO will be convinced to get off their azzes and vote! 60% of eligible voters don't vote, so those in swing states certainly do make a difference.

I'll ask again here since it didn't get answered in the other thread.

Someone stated Romney has the NRA endorsement. I have searched and searched and searched but have not found this endorsement (or even a sliver of support).

Can someone please provide a link to the endorsement, please?

I looked for it too. He had a B rating last time around. I would think he had a sit-down with Wayne at the convention. If you ask the NRA about your vote though, they're gonna say Romney.

The 2008 endorsement he claimed was recently posted on NRA-ILA on top page.

One would think that if the NRA supported him, they wouldn't ppost that on top page

Because of the "R".

How often do they support democrats? Serious question... not trying to debate

It's pretty rare. You see a few, I think.

The NRA supports Democrats all the time...they don't care about "party" at all (which often makes a lot of the membership angry because most people aren't single issue voters) - the NRA is a true single-issue organization. All they care bout is how a candidate has voted on firearm related issues in the past (assuming it's a candidate that has a record to see).

The NRA probably has to grade blue state politicians on a curve. Perhaps Romney gets a B compared to Chuck Schumer's D?

I don't hunt and so it matters not to me whether Romney hunts, though he trots out the rare rabbit hunt as pro-gun street cred. Reminiscent of such as the gratuitously absurd photo-op of a camo-clad Kerry duck-hunting during the 2004 election cycle. It was kinda amazing that, to my knowledge, Obama never once so far has participated in a camo-clad hunting trip photo op. Clinton, Gore and numerous other D's treated it a mandatory campaign season ritual. To prove they are "just like us". Sadly we never got a Dukakis moment of Obama riding around with his head stuck up out of a tank. Dukakis probably ruined that forever for democrats.

It doesn't much indicate a fella's 2A stance. Pure noise. One might assume that at least Romney wouldn't ban rabbit guns, if he once hunted a rabbit. But even that isn't a safe assumption. Bill Clinton and other good old boy sanctimonious democrats actually do seem to genuinely enjoy occasional skeet or birding with 12 gauge semi-auto's. But simultaneous with shotgun photo-ops, they wanted to ban semi-auto shotguns as destructive devices. Presumably the banning of the common man's semi-auto shotgun would not affect shotgun recreations of connected fat-cats at exclusive shooting clubs.

The only thing that keeps any of em in line is the fear of lost votes from rednecks irrationally clinging to their guns.

Which Democrats have they supported besides Harry Reid?

You can look up their rating of just about every candidate/race on their website.

There are stories you can find on the Web as well regarding Democrats they've supported/made contributions to, etc.

They do support Republicans more often than Democrats but for good reason.
