Im headed to Johnson City in the early am tomorrow. Headed to Mt.Home for a quick test and out the door I go. I was wondering if any of you nice folks living out that way and even into Elizabethton can guide me to any pawn shops or gun stores in the area? I have a friend living in Mountain City but may be out of town tomorrow so I was looking for a new guide. We dont have to hook up but just give me some addresses and i'll bring the laptop and mapquest it.

Thanks

Thanks, any idea as to what they may have as far as military rifles?

Im not looking for anything special, just a good deal

They have several ARs in stock, or at least did last time I was there. I'm not sure about others. They will have more than anyone else in the area

Widener's no longer has a retail store that is open to the public. They are all internet based now.

Well that's a bummer. They have lots of cool stuff.

Byrd's Specialty Firearms in Jonesborough has a lot of military rifles new and used. Great variety of other guns too, talk to Roger he's a good dude.

+1 for Tri Cities Gun Depot too, very helpful. Mostly new guns basic selection.

Both have better prices than Mahoneys too even though Mahoneys has the most selection.

If by military you mean anything other than brand new ARs, dont bother with Mahoneys. Definitely Byrds if you are looking for older stuff. And TCGD is definitely worth a stop.

Really? I was unaware of this.

You can still pick up items at the store that you have ordered online. But they don't have an area that you can go in and browse.

Your right on with Byrds. I spent a good while in there looking at just about all the suplus guns he had. Most were well within my price range and I could have walked out with several but I really wanted the M1 Garand. I figured before I just do an impulse buy I had better study up on the Garand. From what little I have read about them they are prone to cracking in the reciever in different areas. I need to know how to check one out before I buy.

On a side note I also found a place called Big Al's- its a tobacco, pawn, retail and gun store all in one. Interesting place for what it is. Its on 11e south but cant remember what county or town- sorry. All in all I think I will be making a trip back to Byrds in a month or two. Thanks to those who replied and hey GKar what is TCGD?

That would be Greeneville, in Greene County.

TCGD = Tri Cities Gun Depot

Big Als is very pricey. However there is a pawn shop next to there that has the best prices in the tri cities I think.

Big als is a joke, US title is right beside there and they have good prices, not the greatest selection but pretty good for their size.
