AR FSB

I am considering an AR build. If I go through with it I only have the money (not really) to do it once and do it right. Meaning buying quality stuff upfront so I don't have a broke gun I can't afford to fix later. Anyway, to my FSB question. I like the looks of the A2 FSB. But I would like a folding front sight in case I can ever afford some nice optics. I found this:

This meets all the criteria. It's a little pricey but it solves all my problems. Again, I can do this once and I will even spend a little extra up front to get it right. The main thing I am concerned with is it being clamp on instead of pinned on. Any of you guys ever seen/used one of these? Any thoughts? Is clamped on gonna hold up?

I even thought about the possibility of putting on the barrel. Adjusting the set screws until it fits like a standard A2 FSB. Then tack welding the flanges together. Then pinning it to the barrel. ??

Clamping will be fine. Use some blue loctite until you are sure it is on straight then remove one screw at a time and apply red loctite.

Without the jigs and tooling you will never be able to pin a FSB in place without it being crooked.

I would look around. The price seems a little high. Midway USA should have them and they have coupons for 10% and 20% off all the time.

I don't even notice my front sight with my red dots. Absolute cowitness made sighting my magpul rear flip up easier too

that is a nice sight, seen one or two first hand. but cheaper than dirt most of the time is hi, like they have gold in there dirt.

I would never have attempted the welding and pinning myself. Def. would have gone in search of a gunsmith for that. And I am going to write the loctite advice down. That's an excellent idea. Midway doesn't have them and I can't find it any cheaper.

But if it doesn't interfere I would just as soon have a pinned on FSB and not have to worry about it.

I wish I had gold in my dirt. I would have no issues!

And thanks, guys, for responding.
