Bummer. It opened for me a couple hours ago. I just now closed it.

It was an interesting read. Even the comments, except the typical ones from typically stupid people.

yes, I'm not sure what the deal is. It is a good read. If you have google chrome you can read a cached page.

For some reason his indepth analysis still isn't coming up. It was quite extensive, seem like he used over 95 different incidences to derive the data.

Basically he took shootings involving 2 or more deaths and compared the results averaging the total deaths based on police or civilians ending the shooting. All shootings (93) were classified as "Rampage" shootings or mass shootings, use whichever term you prefer.

When the police were the ones to kill or apprehend the shooter there was an average of 14.4 deaths.

When a civilian, armed or unarmed killed or apprehended the shooter the average deaths were much lower, 2.8 if I remember correctly.

I believe his basic point was that a civilian that is armed and intervenes in a shooting results in less loss of life when compared to waiting for a police response.

He did note that his neither pro or anti gun and as a mathematician just was curious about the numbers. I didn't go to any of his sources to verify his data so there is the possibility some of the numbers may be skewed. Even if that is the case, it points strongly in favor of a civilian reacting to be a more desirable outcome than waiting for police.
