Are things really as bad as some folks make it out to be?

saw this video on a facebook post and figured id throw it up here to get some opinions from my fellow tennesseeans

Is this something you feel as inevitable

Or more or less the work of an over reactive individual trying to stir up trouble .

I can see some of the things in this video as very real and very scary at the same time.

However I can't really see how civil disobedience would or could ever work

any opinions on the matter? and If so any way you can see bringing about an actual change through good honest and peaceable measures nowdays ?

I suppose someone could run for Potus but no matter how good the individual is or what his/her views are I imagine Jesus himself would be laughed off the stage and booed by the majority if he were not affiliated with the big hitters in either party .

Kinda makes you wanna just give in and go along like everyone else. Is there nothing we can do to peacefully prevent something like this?

Or is the only real option to try and prepare and hope for the best ?

You see protest every now and then but lets be honest who really cares? who pays attention to protesters ?

If you were to see somebody stand up and go all Clint Eastwood and start blasting at officials or whatever . The person would definitely be labeled a crazed madman and he/she would be hunted down , and of course A lot of people would use that as an excuse to take more rights and freedoms away etc.

For me personally I feel things are on the verge of falling apart but If i never saw videos Like this or did any kind of research and never paid any attention to what was going on in the country and for that matter the rest of the world unless it bothered me personally . Would I be better off ? I remember one of our neighbors growing up "Old timer" was kind of like the neighborhood Nut everybody laughed at him behind his back he had a bomb shelter and rumors said he had all kinds of guns and gas mask and everything else well he passed away quite a few years ago and I remember thinking to myself that fool spent his whole life being shunned and preparing for something that never happened .Now I think ,am I turning into that guy ? And are things really that bad?

anyways sorry for ranting on just figured I would see where some of yall stand on this topic.

Though I see the chances for financial chaos and general anarchy as a more pressing threat than police state "takeover, both scenarios certainly happen incrementally, and then seem to have occurred suddenly. As the video suggested, only noticed in hindsight.

One kind of algae that takes over certain ponds may serve as example.

Unchecked, when the microscopic blooms start, they double in volume every 24 hours. Day after day. For three months. But it's not even noticeable until finally it appears one day as an overall faint greenish tint, and then within a week or less completely chokes the whole pond.

The common reaction is "it happened overnight" or "it came from nowhere".

things are worse than what you see on fox, cnn and the other lame media outlets. the facts dont lie. our government now has the NDAA, the patriot act as well as many others, they done away with posse comitatus, are arming to the teeth while pushing for harder gun laws and doing their best at doing away with our Constitution.

Our "big brother" is doing so much out in the open now and admit to things that were denied in the past, and so many people still dont see it, or refuse to accept it.

things will get worse. my advice would be to preare for the worst, while hoping for the best. and no matter what, stick to your guns.

Can't say what. Can't say when. CAN say every man here should learn every skill he can. Any skill you do with your hands is a skill you should learn. Soon is the day that those who cannot feed themselves will starve.

Agreed!

Hey, I know I ain't that old compared to many around here, but I know exactly how I feel. A skill you need to learn while you're still fairly young. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. There's nothing pussy about saying "That's too heavy" Just because your body will do it, don't make it okay. My good buddy Dolomite could come in here and preach you a sermon I'm sure. It ain't no fun using meds to be able to function. Exercise daily, eat right and take care of that body. Your heart and your spine for SURE. You'll thank me in 20 years.

History has shown us time and time again that, NO nation, that starts down the road to tyranny, EVER comes back on it's own accord. It never gets better, it never reaches a point where those with the power are satisfied....they want to continue to take more. We have started down that road along time ago. The first sign is when a peoples rights begin to be erroded. Not all at once, that would cause a revolution, but, little by little. That way, people get pissed but, not enough to do anything about it. When they get used to the infringment of that right, they take another one. And so on and so on.

It finally reaches a point where people must make a choice. Stand and fight, or, bow and submit. Most submit like the Germans did to the Nazi's.

Do any of you really think this government is going to stop pushing for total power by taking our rights? Do any of you really believe we will reach a point where the government will say, "OK, we've taken enough of their rights, and stepped on their Constitution enough, let's stop now"? Do you think there'll come a day when they say, "There are enough laws on the books for gun control, we will not try to add more, no more laws, no more restrictions?

It will just get worse and worse. It is the nature of the beast. Power makes men crazy and do things that they normally would't think of.

I often think about what Thomas Jefferson meant when he said, " The tree of liberty must be refreshed FROM TIME TO TIME, with the blood of patriots and tyrants!

He knew it would go bad after so many decades, or centuries, thus he said, "FROM TIME TO TIME! In other words, over and over again.

Even if we dumped this government today and, made it exactly the way it was when he was President, in a few hundred years it would be corrupt all over again and need refreshing one more time.

Darn right. I ain't nobody's slave and I don't mind fighting about it..as long as my wife says I can. I'll have to ask her first.

They say live by the sword, die by the sword. Mmmm, okay, i'll take that deal. It beats a long life as a slave or cancer or any number of other painful lingering deaths. Even at their worst, a gun shot wound is over faster than most people clinging onto life support.

Comfortable contemplation may be had of a second American revolution that would return our nation to the guiding light that it has bestowed on the world, our Constitution.

A captain in the United States Army reminded me and some others a few days ago that our Army is unique among nations because we pledge our allegiance to ideas (the Constitution) instead of to a person or persons.
