3 inches high and left is pretty darn good, remember you are shooting lead balls... and these are usually a lot higher (the originals were zeroed for 75 yards)... if consistent, though, the easiest way to correct for windage is to file the rear sight notch - of course, you might want to go real easy with that....

mine all shoot a little off of POA. I just aim a little low depending on how far away the target is.

I was unaware of the 75 yards. But I would guess properly loaded with a correct sized ball they would be accurate at that distance.

ok...I have a question.

Chad (my buddy) bought the navy colt in .44 the book said the hottest load he could shoot was 15 grains of fffg powder...

is this so?? heck, I was shooting 25 grains out of my pistol, so whats the deal? was he reading the book wrong?

whats the hottest load you can shoot? is it 30 grains of triple F?

I would think that's the hottest he'd want to shoot it.

Tower he can easily shoot 30 grains of fff through it.

My pietta's both say to shoot between 12 and 15 grains of fff through it. I think it is to be ultra safe on their part.

What make of gun is it?

I believe they recommend underloading, In this day and age they are scared of lawsuits. I don't know anyone who shoots with such light loads.

Pack it full and blast away!

As long as you are using fffg, you can't put enough in the cylinder to blow it up. Just not enough room.

I will let him know to go ahead and load it the way he wants to! thanks guys. It's times like this that I'm really happy to have a store of knowledge to call on.

heck Elliott, I wish I could go shooting with you all. Man I love making smoke in a crowd. Tell him to stuff it full of FFF, cap it and pull that trigger!!

Uberti's are really a step above IMHO. Not that there is anything wrong with Piettas.

But Ubertis have awesome wood and less billboard issues.

damn go and blow some stuff up for me this weekend dude.

Elliott if we could plan it out I could come on down. It would be a hoot to shoot with you all in the Noog! or even go picnic at Chickamauga <sp>

Lemme know. Maybe we could make a weekend out of it.l

that's an idea!!! failing that we might make it to Knoxville.. we'll see what happens when we get some time off...

right now though, I'm not sure when that'll be..but Chad would definitely enjoy himself. He saw the pics of you guys on line with all the pistols and had to get one for himself.

I bought a flask and powder funnel for him when he bought it.
