I have a set of the Military Marine 8x30 from the 80s with no reticle.

I used them on "walks in the woods" during my time at the Benning School for Boys.

I have never wanted or needed any other binos which is about as good as a recommendation that any one can give.

Funny you brought this subject up. I just posted for sale Zeiss binoculars are few days ago.

Back in the 80's I wanted to buy the best pair of optics money could buy, IMO, that would only include Steriner and Zeiss. I compared them side by side, did my home work, and looked through both endlessly.

The quality of the optics on both of them were outstanding. Look through a pair of Nikon or any other brand and you will immediately see the difference in quality and light gathering. The price between the two were about the same ($1,150.00 back in the 80's if I remember correctly).

So, I chose the Zeiss 7x42 WP black rubber armored binoculars based on, they look better to me.

I have a pair of the binos and they are great. The range finding one's are a little expensive but the regular military one's are great for the money. Super clear, looks like you are standing right in front of whatever you are looking at. I use them at the range and for hunting. A little heavy but great overall.
