How is it that saying goes? Something like, "If you feel you need to be burying guns then it is probably time to dig them up."

Still, I can see a certain attraction to it.

I'm pretty sure just wrapping in insulation would stop condensation.

Actually most insulation keeps moisture in.

Moisture gets in and never evaporates. That is the reason a lot of houses and trailers have rotting floors. The floors were insulated and the moisture was kept against the wood of the floors.

Best thing to do is seal the firearm in an airtight container of some sort after soaking it with oil. For the ammunition I would just seal it in an airtight container with nothing else in there.
