You're going to get as many different suggestions as there are people on this forum. Maybe you can narrow it down some.

What handguns have you fired that you did well with (hit what you aimed at) and that you liked?

There are some very fine carry guns out there that fit what you describe, but I would look hard at a Glock 19 (9mm) or 23 (.40). I never had much use for Glocks until I started shooting them, I carry a G22 (full size .40) and like it alot, it shoots great is reliable and holds more ammo than I would ever expect to need. I carry OWB with no issues. You should be able to locate a Glock in your price range, I gave $350.00 for my 22 and $400.00 for my 35. Just my 2 cents.

I find a full sized handgun (like a .45) to be uncomfortable to carry fully concealed/IWB. So I picked up a S&W j-frame 442 snubnose to try out with a don hume IWB holster, and the combo just works. I haven't found anything better for all day concealed belt carry thats both pretty well hidden under a normal untucked shirt and a pretty quick draw.

You might also look at a pocket sized auto and a pocket holster, although I do not personally like that method. The belt holster's for the pocket sized auto's don't seem to work too good, but I'm sure someone will pipe up with a differing view here in a minute. :death:

Kahr makes several nice compact and mini 9mm or .40 handguns.

What makes them nice is they are very narrow and light. The are quality guns. The cw9 new is close to your price range. I'd look for a used one.

If you want 9mm there are also some snubby revolvers out there if you look hard.

i think for 9 or 40, a XD sub compact would work good but likely outside of your price range. a compact frame glock would likely work good also.

i am your size also - 6'4" 200lbs. and will be watching this thread for suggestions, although i like .45acp, 10mm and .357sig for autos and .38spl, .357mag, .44spl, and .44mag for revolvers. maybe drop to a .40 if i found the perfect gun.

i have heard that the holster can make or break you as far a concealibility and comfortability

You will have to find what fits you and feels good. I have gone with the GLOCKs, a 23 and 27 in 40 S&W, they work for me but may not for you. If you find something you like above your price line then save up for it, otherwise you probably will not be happy for settling for something less.
