Does anyone know a local (Nashville/Murfreesboro area) shop that carries Hornady Critical Defense 9mm in stock? I wanted to grab a box to try in my PM9.

I hardly ever see this on the shelves any more in Chattanooga. Shooter's Depot here used to carry it and the last 4 or 5 times I went in there they didn't have it. I never see it at Sportsman's Warehouse, although they have a spot for it on the shelf.

I have found the 9mm Zombie-Max a few places that is the same ammo AFAIK.

My point is I think its kinda hard to come by right now.

Here in Knoxville the Walmart on Clinton Hwy sells them in both the Critical Defense and Zombie Max boxes.

any particular reason you want this specific type? there are so many better options out there

Like most subcompact 9mm's, mine seems to be picky about hollowpoints. It feeds ball all day long, but it likes some hollowpoints better than others. I want to try a couple of boxes of HCD to see how they work. After all, a "lesser" hollowpoint that feeds and fires beats a "better option" that malfs any day of the week.

understand. . .like a few others mentioned above the HCD is readily available is most stores in the Knoxville area.

Otherwise, I would try online. . .Cheaperthandirt, MidwayUSA, etc. . . .

They are the same price, and the only discernible difference I have seen is that the rubber ball in the hollow is green instead of red.

Academy Sports in Rivergate usually has it on the shelf but I haven't been in there recently. Maybe give them a call.

The Outpost in Murfreesboro has it typically. I'm a fan of the Critical Defense loads. It's worked well for me.

The Armory over in Lebanon typically stocks the hornady CD ammo.

I"ve got the CM9 and run the Rem Golden Sabers through it for defense purposes. Haven't had a single feed issue. The Speer Gold Dots feed nicely as well but they're harder to find locally.
