223 ammo

Does anyone know of a decently priced source of brass 223 in knoxville? I have been meaning to order some and just put it off. Now may have a chance to go shooting tomorrow and all I have is a can of Tula steel case, and my AR hates it. Some stick so tight they have to be hammered out. I have shoot a few mags of assorted brass case and haven't had one failure. My local Wally World (South) only has 20 rd boxes.

My local wally hasn't had any 223 in ages. They do keep pistol and 22 quite often, and tons and tons of shotgun ammo. Your best bet is the internet. I find this site quite helpful: http://gun-deals.com/ Its updated many times a day. Also follow the ammo link at the top of the page, and seek and you shall find.

I'd check Clinton Hwy north know Walmart. I'd even call turkey creek, they've had it before. It's rare to see 100rd packs much. They get bought pretty quick

You could also try Academy. I know their private label "Monarch" is brass cased. Unless of course you're just talking about brass for reloading, then I don't know.

No no. It's Russian steel. And lacquer coated, at that. Maybe the greenish/brown made you think brass. It's about the only lacquer coated I still see anywhere.

HSM is sold all over the place, used to be a booth at our Knoxville gun shows even. Cabela's sells a lot of it, along with their "house brand", Herter's. Midway, too, etc. Made in Montana, some of it is reloaded, some not, I think. Out of Montana.

Used to find their website, can't right now, TheHuntingShack claims to be their "full line dealer". Or maybe they're sort of one and the same, dunno.

Yes. I know some of it is steel cased and is labeled steel, but they also have brass cased labeled brass.

Yep, you're right, I stand corrected. They have both, sorry to doubt you, grasshopper. :)

Lol, no worries. I just argued that because I've been in there three times in the past week to buy ammo.
