I think my point may not be getting across which is my fault as I'm not as well spoken as I'd like to be.

The only thing I'm in disagreement with so far is that showing force alone will stop most any violent altercation. And even then I agree that the odds are in your favor that it will, just don't be surprised if it doesn't. Not that there's anything you can really do about it if it doesn't except maybe up the equation with more force if possible, and be prepared for that scenario.

And just to clarify what would I do if backed into a corner? I don't know. It all depends on the corner, who's backed up with me, and who's backing me/us into it, and why. The one thing I do know is I'd much rather make that choice armed to defend myself than not and either way it needs to be a quick decision.

All I meant by "backed into a corner" was your choices are very limited, like wise your response, nothing else.

Showing force wouldn't really do much in a smoke filled theater. Using force might, if available.
