SME's: N680 steel?

Recommended Posts

I was over at Freidman's today looking at knives and they had a Lone Wolf Landslide in N680. I can't find much at all on either the knife or the steel, so I get the impression that both are new.

SRP on the knife is $80. They sell it for $54.99. I almost bought one, but decided to wait till I could get some more information, at least on the steel. Anyone know anything about it?

Well, fairly recent stainless steel. Made by Böhler-Uddeholm based in Austria, but has production centers around the world.

See a lot of comments like: "Bohler N680 Steel - Has .54% carbon. This is another very hard steel that is highly stain resistant, and so is good for salt water applications."

Benchmade seems to use it in their salt water line, etc.

From maker, including link to review:

In general:

https://www.google.com/search?q=n680+steel&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Might be somewhat stubborn to sharpen, dunno, have to read up on it from links.

Thanks OS... I don't really have much use for an extremely rust resistant blade, but the Landslide is a really nice looking knife. I may just go back tomorrow and take a chance on it.

Well, $50-60 seems to be normal range for that knife, so it's not really a flat out steal or anything. Are they all orange gripped?

Amazon is $52.50 no tax free ship.

As far as I can tell, they are all orange. But after sitting here and thinking about it, I think I'm gonna pass on it.
