Today Sherman Hemsley, aka George Jefferson of "The Jeffersons" died at age 74.

I know I grew up watching him as well as his antithesis Archie Bunker. Both were always on in my house when I was young. I still watch both to this day and it makes me realize our issues today were also issues some 40 years ago.

KInda sad.. I thought he was rather funny in his sitcoms.

No one would even consider doing the kind of show now with the way Archie used to talk about different races.He was funny

I liked the Jeffersons, too. Ole George was a funny guy.

Which is only fitting as George and the gang were characters on AITF before getting their own spin off.

I have some fond memories of staying up late watching nick at nite laughing my butt off .

Like Dolomite said, it's funny I never realized how old the show was because of the way they would tackle the same issues modern shows of the time were still trying to adress.

I watched The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Sanford and Son. All great shows that actually incorporated comedy without all the foul language or non-stop sexual innuendo.

I grew up watching The Jeffersons and I never miss a rerun when I find them on the tube. Since I heard he died I've been watching his show on the net. I have to admit I still love George and Weezy.
