I was cleaning my 1851 Navy tonight, and I pulled a good one. I cocked it to half cock with the grips removed and broke the main spring. Crap.... so anyways, is there a good place to get one? Dixie gun works carries them, but they have mixed reviews a lot of them mention it being anywhere from slightly shorter but workable, up to some that don't work at all due to being to short. So should I take the gamble, and buy it from them, or is there somewhere else to order it from?

Well, where ever you get the replacement, it won't be any worse than the original. Grips or no, the mainspring shouldn't have busted that easily. Good luck!

there is a very nice 44 cal black powder revolver at household pawn on charlotte pike in nashville for 119.99

For that price jump on it!

I found a 1851 Colt Navy here at a pawn shop. $100.00 plus $10.00 for the background check.

I passed....I refuse to pay a background check for a BP revolver. PERIOD!
