Theaters in Knoxville that are not posted?

Two things here:

As I understand it going past any signage in TN regardless of being aware of it or not is an automatic felony which I discussed with someone this weekend that said they were not sure. Anyone who can point the way for me there I would appreciate it for clarification. I looked and, well just have not taken the time to verify myself.

The main point for me is can folks post places they know where one may find a movie in the Knoxville area. Just figured folks know of some rather than spending a tank of gas wondering about checking them out.

The one we typically went to I have never seen signage on, but apparently their corporate policy states no weapons so I will respect it and go elsewhere, or nowhere. Much cheaper to get a free rental on Red Box.

None of the Regal theaters in Knoxville are posted and neither are the Carmikes. I always carry in them. I hope they don't decide to post now.

Turkey creek theater has an itty bitty teenie weenie circled gun with a slash through it on a sheet of rules hidden in each side of the ticket booth. I was escorted out by the cop that stays in there because I dropped my change and my shirt came up and showed my pistol when I picked it up. He said it was legal but understood how bad it sucked, just let me secure it in the truck.

If I remember correctly the theater entrance in the mall also has a gun buster in the wall, but i'm not sure.

Class B Misdemeanor, with $500 fine only, no jail.

There is another statute that says HCP will be suspended or revoked also for a violation, but this has not been tested, as we can find no case of a TN resident being convicted so far.

last time I was at Regal in Turkey Creek, I specifically looked on all the glass doors and around the doors for any signage. I saw none, therefore I carried in there.

I am not denying the tiny sign you saw, but clearly not easily visible; therefore, I would claim "ignorance" and continue to carry there.

This is correct. Its not PROPERLY posted. A tiny sign in one location doesn't suffice. it needs to be on all entrances. Same goes for West Town mall. This doesn't mean they cant ask you to leave, just like the story Wewo posted above. If you don't leave, then its Trespassing.

Moral of the story is, Conceal, and do it well, and you wont have any issues

All Regal theaters are posted in the manner that wewoapsiak described.

I don't personally find that to be "plainly visible" in the way that the law is written, but my opinion doesn't matter. It's the DA's that matters. I take my business to Carmike theaters now. They are not posted.

Oh I agree it's a crap posting, legal or not. It's not on any of the doors, is on the first glass panels to the left and right of the ticket booth. I took a pic just in case I needed it.

+1. I went to see Dark Knight on Friday with my wife and some friends at the downtown Rivera in Knoxville. I looked at all the entrances, and no signs were posted. They searched women's purses for 'weapons' as a feel good security measure, but my friend and I both carried concealed (I was pocket carrying an LCP, my friend had a G22 IWB) the entire time. No one was shot, hurt or otherwise injured, and it was a non-event.

Yet folks will patronize a place that searches the women's purses.

Soon we will have TSA type searches anywhere more than 1 person congregates.

"Ignorance" of the law is no excuse.

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those..." I know it's posted, but it's not proper, so I'm going to carry past it anyways" kinda threads.....

Kinda what I was thinking. More gunbuster signs, and airport type security checks just to go into a restaraunt to eat, or watch a movie.

This whole ordeal will only have more businesses posting gunbusters because they are laboring under the delusion that it will keep them safe. BUT, all it's going to do is limit the number of places I spend my money.

Just talked with a friend and fellow HCP and said I will not break the law, I will simply refuse to spend my money with any one who wants to be a weenie. I also said I will hold any of fellow HCP brethren if they think they are rigt to do something they shouldnt just because thy think they should be able to do something just because thy see some grey area. So many options out there, spend your money on those who are not taking you for granted

All of why I asked any cinemas that are not posted I won't patronize a place that I have any choice in and a theater is a place I can completely ignore from now on until it hits DVD.

So otherwise just stick with places that aren't posted please, thanks.

Oh and thanks for the clarifications on the law. I was being lazy, and thank you.

Not bragging about what I have or nothing but I don't care about seeing anything in the movies much anymore anyway. I have an 8000 series 55"Samsung HD 3D LED tv in my bedroom that's about 15x15. No theater has a better picture, only bigger. THe sound is better at the theater but whoopedy doo. It's gotta be big time on my wanna see list before I go to the movies anymore.

Please make sure you post this business over on the "Carry Prohibited Locations" forum as well for easy searching for others in the future.

also, any other places you know of.

Thx.

Well if it's not proper then it's not a legal posting. I'll carry past those all day long. If the business owner doesn't know the law or is just too stupid to look it up that's not my problem. If it is proper I just take my business elsewhere.

This is how I feel. The signs in Florida do not have the weight of law and they ONLY place I have ever seen one down here was a pawn shop and gun stores.

Gun stores are my one exception. Even if it's not a proper posting I will not give them my business. I will not support a gun store that does not support my right to carry. Just a matter of principle.

and a bonus, less places, less money spent. Pretty soon, it may be essentials only. No problem.
