Suggested new topic in Firearms Laws section

There appears to be a need for some clarification on the Federal Laws regarding out of state purchases. Based on a post I made there seems to be a lot of confusion. Considering TN is bordered by Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Virginia, some very gun friendly states, I would suggest a topic that clarifies the legalities of purchasing out of state. I do know the laws. However, as mentioned, it would seem the laws are not well know, or known at all, by some of the membership, which is understandable as not everyone makes out of state firearms purchases.

Dont get me wrong, Im not making a claim of being some 2A Legal professor or some crap and am aware that some laws vary state to state, thats why I am currently familiarizing myself with TN state laws as I am moving to the Rhea or Meigs or surrounding areas in the next month or two. But, IMHO a post on Federal Out of State Purchase Laws would seem to be a good idea.

Pretty simple. You can purchase a long gun in any other state from an FFL. You cannot purchase/take possession of a handgun in any state other than your own.

Perfect example. Nothing personal against you Philanthropic. I believe I am understanding your post correctly, your not saying you cant purchase but that you cant purchase AND take possession of. Because you can purchase handguns out of state, they just have to be shipped to your FFL in your state for transfer. That is why I recommend the post. Clarification.
