Best Way to Store Factory Ammo in Ammo Can

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I been keeping my factory ammo in the factory box and/or transfer it to a reloader plastic box. Then I place the ammo in a ammo can and/or just on the shelf in the reloading room. When it come to my reloads I just dump them loose in coffee cans,,, metal cans untill the plastic can came out. But lately I have gotten a large amount of factory ammo and looking for ways to save storage space. I know some like to store loose in ammo can and some like to box it in the can. So what is the best way for long term storage of ammo in a ammo can?

Caster had a great Idea. Here is the thread http://www.tngunowne...mo-my-solution/ I have done this with all my ammo. It gave me 10-20% more to the can than loose and they are grab and go now. I cut off the end of the factory boxes that had the specs and taped it to the top of each wrap so I can see what it is in a hurry. It took a little time to figure out how many to a wrap for all the different cals but well worth it.

For long term storage there is NO best way other than to make sure it is air tight and in a cool dry place with little temp change as possible.

Other than that "How you do it " is up to you.
