I'm visualizing someone trying to hold a pistol like a rifle, with strong hand on the grip and the other resting under the barrel like it's a rifle stock. Then one finger gets extended a bit too far....

I don't know if that's what this guy was doing, but I've seen some people do some pretty silly things when they don't know any better.
