FFL Transfers Chattanooga Cheap

When trying to find an FFL to have my guns I purchased yesterday transferred, the normal going price for said transfer in Chattanooga seemed to hover around $45. I just happened to walk into Les' Pawn Shop at 4785 Highway 58 Suite 10 searching for a handgun for my wife. Although I did not purchase from them, I was talking to a lady named Star that worked there about doing transfers. She was super helpful and very knowledgable about the process. I figured when I asked how much, it would be the norm that I was finding at $45. She said they charge $30 and that includes the $10 background check. I was shocked that they only charge $20 for a transfer. I called her about 4 hours after leaving the shop and she remembered my name and what gun I was looking at. I told her that I had just purchased 2 guns online and that I needed to have them transferred to her shop. She asked me for the business's fax number, my name and phone number and if I had an order number to reference. I gave her all said info and she said she would fax their FFL immediately. To recap, I was extremely pleased with her customer service and professionalism. I spent many years in retail and I can say that the fact that she remembered my name and exactly what I was looking to purchase made me a believer that she paid attention and I was not just another customer walking through the door.

Thanks for this. I'm always afraid to buy online then get a bunch of crap from the FFL receiving it. The only option I had locally for years didn't understand why you didn't just buy something he had for the price he was asking.

$10 for a background check. Ridiculous. Know how much the Feds charge. ZERO. How much does it cost them to make the call. ZERO. How much for the other end to answer the phone. ZERO. I have to assume thats a TN State law of some sort. In Pa. it is, they have to charge $5. If it goes to support something like Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, I have no problem with it. But if it just adds more to the tax coffers for the Politicians to spend, Im not.

It is. Goes through TICS (Tennessee Instant Check System, by TBI) to NICS. Just another layer, and essentially a gun tax. Don't know if TBI keeps the bucks or goes in general fund, or what. But it's not like the dime/box ammo tax, which goes to TWRA, which is perceived as a mostly useful part of more general useless bureaucracy.

I've done a few transfers through a home based ffl in Hixson he only charges $20 for transfers and 10% over cost for any guns you have him order, he is listed on gunbrokers ffl list. Great guy too.
