So if you watch the video you'll see her shooting (or look at the changing picture at the bottom of the page) a glock with eye and ear protection. Then you'll see her shooting what looks and sounds like a silenced, full auto .22lr...without any eye protection. I am sorry, but when the training facility doesn't require her to wear eye protection while firing a firearm, how well are they training their cops in firearms safety? A .22lr can easily take your eyes out if something were to go wrong. This just seems stupid basic to me.

You know, I don't recall ever having eye protection at the range in the military. We did wear hearing protection, but none for the eyes.

Not a suppressed 22, that is a suppressed 9mm. It is a H&K MP5SD. If there was one gun I WOULD wear eye protection with it would be any suppressed weapon.

And yes, they are that quiet. Here I am shooting one of ours overseas.

Interesting. The size of the casings spitting out looked too small to be 9mm, otherwise I would have guessed that.

I just know that even if something doesn't blow up, things like hot brass can go the wrong direction. My wife has burned her cleavage before when wearing a v next shirt and has a scar on her lower back where a hot .22lr brass from the person firing next to her managed to find the one little place where her shirt had ridden up while laying prone. It's one of those things that is not worth the risk when eye protection (even regular sunglasses) is easy to come by. And this is coming from a guy who used to shoot everything without eye protection.

I became a true believer one day at an indoor range. Somehow, the copper jacket from a bullet came back and hit me in the arm. It did no damage, but it did sting a little through a long sleeve shirt. It did not come from me or the people on either side of me; we were all shooting 22s. As you could imagine, it was sharp and jagged. It could have easily caused a significant eye injury if it just happened to hit in the wrong place.

With a suppressed gun you get A LOT of crud coming back at you. It is very dirty and will thorugh stuff a long way. After I have shot a few hundred suppressed 22's my face is black.

It was just a photo op. As corrupt as KPD is I'm sure the spent their PPE money on something like a keg party or strippers.

I knew it had been too long since your last cop hating comment.

I qualified hundreds of times, with many different types of weapons, and neither can I ever recall wearing eye protection. And the only hearing protection we wore was foam inserts. Eye protection wasnt even required during Tank Gunnery.

HAH would be hard getting up to the GPS with goggles on! Well that if if that thing comes out of battery then eye pro is not going to help!

Last few times I ran / fired on a range we had to have eyepro and earpro or the headshed would flip out though. I always shoot with earpro, and as a civlian I shoot with basically good safety sunglasses because I do not go outside without shades.

I wore safety glasses until I had a hot casing get stuck between the outer corner of my eye and my glasses.

I think I'll risk a little dust in my eyes over another scar...

I've dealt with KPD before. Personal experience.

I do not hate all cops. I have had excellent, professional, and very friendly experiences with many cops.
