Range test S&W revolvers and Diamondback DB9

Went to Darryl's place today to test fire some .22s and handguns.

1) the Apex trigger kit, as well as the Power Custom trigger shim I put on Darryl's 442 worked nicely. I also polished a few areas on the trigger, hammer and rebound block. I polished the new rebound spring and the interior of the rebound block. Also put new springs in it including a firing pin spring. Darryl shot it and it proved 100% reliable. It pulls easier and feels better after I radiused the trigger shoe itself. I doubt if a 442 shoots much better.

2) Test fired two revolvers myself, my NTM 60-something year old 4" S&W M&P pre-model 10 .38 special. Shoots well, nice action (thanks to me and S&W) and was 100% reliable. Also made sure my chrome S&W Mdl 10 was working well. That chrome Mdl 10 is remarkable, easy shooting and slick action.

3) Both Darryl and myself shot my Diamondback DB9, the 11.5oz 9mm. Darryl didn't think the recoil was bad at all and I shot it one-handed left-handed as fast as I could keeping all the rounds in acceptable area. The DB was 100% with Hornady 115 grain Critical Defense and Independance 115 grain practice ammo. I'm going to set aside the Keltec 32 for a while and use the DB9 for pocket carry. 0719shoot.jpg

Interesting thing about that chrome job, whoever did it. It was 100% inside and out. However, chrome does collect thicker in cracks and crevices a bit. SO the single action notch was iffy due to the chrome so I stoned it off. Now this is a slick DAO chrome Mdl 10.

Interesting thing to do is hold a nice nickel revolver alongside a chrome revolver (where do you find chrome revolvers:)? The nickel gives off a yellowish cast while the chrome gives off a bluish cast. Once you see this side by side you will never forget it. I found this fact highly illuminating.
