.I don't know how old you are, and I don't mean this in a slight at all, but 7.62 Russian is a commonly accepted term for 7.62x39mm as well as .30 Commie. I grew up using both terms and I still do.

A "Commonly accepted term" does not make it "the correct term". "R" refers to "rim". Much in the same way as "AR" does not mean "aussalt rifle". Yes, I am an ass...

Where does the R come from then? I am talking about 7.62x39mm being called 7.62 Russian or .30 Commie.

No R anywhere in there. I am not talking about 7.62x54mmR being called that. Never heard that round called anything other than that.

Protip, if you are gonna be an ass, be right about it.

I've owned two of these PTR91s. I shot nothing but 7.62 nato in them. Nice battle rifles at a good price. Honestly, as nice as the HK91s but at half the price. If you don't like the AR stock it can be easily changed for a fixed HK stock, folder, etc.
