M&P Shield 9mm range report

I can say that I'm very delighted with the Shield. The little M&P performed flawlessly with 250 rounds of Federal ammo and 50 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

The trigger was everything that it was advertised to be. The trigger had a good clean break and a nice reset. The slim grip felt almost like a 1911. The recoil was very light and the pistol offered very good accuracy. I plan to let my wife shoot it. If she likes it I will have to purchase another.

My daily carry has been the G30, but I can see the Shield working its way into the rotation over the G26 when I want to go small and light.

I placed a deposit and did some waiting when I first heard that they were coming out. The pistol arrived friday before last. The hard part is waiting for additional mags to become available.

My 40 Shield came in 3 weeks ago or so, Sold my PF9, no comparison, first 100 rounds , no problems, Recoil is light for a very small gun, this is a keeper ;)

I bought one a couple months or so ago. I like it alright, but had my wife not "claimed" it I probably would have moved it along.

We try to go to Knoxville and shoot atleast once a month. Next time I'm going I will post up in case someone wants to come try it out.

My wife and I both like the soft recoil. Not a huge difference from my Glock 26, but feels difference. Soft is all I can describe. Mine is 9mm.

They had one in stock. Cause i called about it saturday and they said it was sold.

Seems everytime i go to Gander Mountain in Huntsville, they are sold out as well. I just want to see one in person before i would buy one. I need a "summer" gun to conceal. My glock is nice and all but almost too big to carry in the summer.

Good to hear the reviews about this gun. I'm still looking.

I've seen five, one 40 and 4 9s. My favorite gunshop hasn't had one in a good while though. I did get to handle the new Sig 938 yesterday, pretty nice, but for the price and the plain fact I like the Shield better I'll wait a year or so and get a Shield - hopefully by then they will be a regular shelf item. Hard to argue against a Ruger LC9 if you get the Galloway Precision trigger. However, because I do get to handle most of these guns I'm going to wait for a Shield.

I fiddled with one for 2 weeks. It shot great but when I would do a "press check" the slide would stay out of battery. I posted this on another forum and lots of people say that most of their pistols will do the same. I guess they were trying to defend the Shield. But the one I was shooting did it with and without a magazine in it. I tried this on my other pistols and they wont do it . All of my pistols will preform a press check and return to battery just like normal. This is the only thing I didnt like about the Shield 9mm. But again I say that it did shoot great and function fine . Just seems like the recoil spring was a little too weak to move the slide forward when it was slightly retracted. If this gets fixed or remedied , then I will definitely buy one for a back-up gun to take to work as a companion to my G22 . Right now I use a G27 so the thinness will be welcomed !
