Mi Amigo...

Well, the time finally came. I have typically been a springfield man, but I knew that I wanted a new officer 1911, and so I have been keeping my eye on the amigo. I originally wanted an EMP, but I didn't have a grand to drop on it, nor could find one in .40cal. I have owned an american classic before based on the good referral from the guys at D&T, and was very surprised at the quality for the price, but I was absolutely blown away by the fit and finish of this one. One of the other major selling points for me was the lack of cheesy rollmarks like the rock islands have...I like that the one side is bare.. very classy look. All I see is the blued versions, so when the stainless version was right in front of me....it was all over. I have seen others before, but never stainless or in this shape... The others just seemed dull or generic while this one is immaculate. This one's slide feels like glass. It has a comparable feel to my SACS target shooter... and I'm not just tooting my own horn. Slide to frame fit is awesome... I couldn't be more happy. These pics are right after I pulled it out of the box, so don't mind the dust.

Only thing left is to get my 10-8 flat trigger in, as well as my vz grips, and a new crossbreed which I'll be running out to D&T for today..... I'll update pics as i get em

I have a blued one. Great pistol for the money. I did have to have a little work done on it, but seems to run flawlessly now. Same deal with mine. Excellent fit and finish.

NIce pistol but does anyone see the irony of the Spanification of america here?

Yep. It would be fine with me if they had named it something else. The good news is that it's more fun to shoot than my Glock 36, and ain't near as ugly :)

I agree it is a beautiful pistol. I have a "mirror finish" stainless full size American Classic and like it fine, but the mirror finish likes to show minor scratches that would be invisible on matte.

The pistol comes from the phillipines right? According to wikipedia spanish is no longer the official language but it was the official language for a long time and there are thousands of borrowed spanish words in common use. In that context a spanish name might not be surprising? Maybe like a portugese name on a Taurus pistol?

Now it would be kewl if Japan would manufacture a gun named the Mothra or the Rodan. Godzilla would be the most obvious name, but just doesn't seem "quite right" for a gun name.

I was referring to the irony of a name that includes "American Classic" and "Amigo"

Not meant to be offensive to our latino brothers that came here LEGALLY. I'm totally okay with that. This country was built by immigrants. But spanish seems to permeate our culture now and as much as I love me some mexican food, everything we're getting is not entirely welcome.

Thanks Caster. Didn't want to get off into the weeds. I kinda figured american classic would refer to the 1911 design. Even if a 1911 was made in lower slobbovia it would be the american classic 1911 design? Dunno.

Very nice pistola. I had a full size American Classic and it was an awesome gun for the price. Wish I'd have kept it.

Nice!! I have the ACII in hard chrome and the Commander in blue... I would love an Amigo if they run as smoothly as the other two.
