I also posted a site in another thread for a petition agaist HR 1022.

I think we all need to sign the thing.

And write/email/telephone to all TN congresspersons so that they know their constituents want them to oppose HR1022 vigorously. I already have, but I'll probably write again for emphasis.

ALL ACTIONS:

2/13/2007: Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

3/19/2007: Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

Still just 33 co-sponsors... Methinks this one is headed for the 'slow-death' (Congressional committee merry-go-round)

I think I need to hurry up and buy an AK47 before these congressional dipsticks go and wipe their feet on my God given rights again.

I wish Congress would leave it up to the states. I see Hawaii and CA listed on there several times. Along with NY. Don't those states already have MORE RESTRICTIVE gun laws then the country? Shouldn't that be the way that BANS are handled? Leave it up to the State/County/City to decide what THEY want. That way, if I want an AK and live in CA, my option is to move to TN.

Exactly... that's how it should be done, because it makes sense. Heaven forbid that Congress legislate based on sense and reason! :(

These states obviously want to control all people, even those not under their 'authority' whom they do not represent.

There's alot of Democrat's in that list too... if not all of them.

I have started becoming more and more in favor of "doing away" with congress and senate or at least more limits on their authority. Most laws on the books should be addressed at a local matter. If my state wants to legalize drugs, more power to them. Let all the hippy dope smoking people move to this state (which I will then vacate in favor of a drug free state.) If my state wants to allow capital punishment, more power to it (I'll stay.)

Congress should be addressing national issues like defense/trade/and NATIONAL security. Leave the rest up to the states.

Kinda think that's what the founding fathers had in mind.

Kinda think that's what the founding fathers had in mind.

exactly! the states set their own laws under the umbrella of the constitution. if the state steps over those bounds then the federal gov. steps in and says no. that way if you don't like the laws in state 1 then you could go to state 2. there should never be set rules (except for the constitution and the BoR) for the entire nation. wasn't supposed to be the way it is.

Its so frustrating for me sometimes, to see the ways that less intelligent people are murdering our constitution..in a slow death kind of way.

has anyone taken a look at the preamble of the constitution lately?

they did away with every reference to God it the "new" preamble..

I'm sorry guys..I'm a Christian/Heathen..not any OTHER type of heathen.

I believe in religious freedom...but I also believe that it took those guys 13 years to do what they did..and now the "new federalists" have come behind them and stabbed them in the back, and have begun taking the Constitution apart and rewriting it to suit themselves.

*sigh*

It's called revisionist history. Who cares if it's right as long as somebody feels better.

I believe that a "civil war" will probably be in America's future. Unfortunately, the battle lines will not be as clearly defined as they were in the last one. Literally neighbors going at each other. Oh wait, we have that now, it's called Gang Warfare.

You guys are dead on right.

A civil war is coming and the spin-doctors are already making it about "haves" and "have nots", not about traditional conservatism vs. new socialism.

Get a cold brew and go here if you want my opinions....

BTW, it's interesting to see so many interested in states rights. so am I....

You know you got my vote. :P

I keep telling my wife that you won't recognize this country in 20 years. I hate that for my kids. Hopefully a politically correct backlash revolution is coming.

A second civil war in this country is inevitable in my opinion. It just may take living under an oppressive tyrant for a while to get a lot more people into gear about it, by then, it'll be a little bit too late to do something proactive, and it will take even longer to expel that tyrant from power.

You are absolutely right Tungsten. For me, it's a XR-15 & AK-47 before the end of this year.

To partially quote Arthur's Hall of Viking Manliness, "As I write this, brand new Romanian semi-auto only AK-47s and AK-74s can be purchased for $350-450. At that price, you should have several, so any guests you have during the Collapse can be outfitted as they receive Enlightenment." This goes for Mosin-Nagant's of any flavor as well. Enlightenment only comes from the joy of teaching others the way of the gun. (=

I plan on picking up at least one, preferably two, of each before Christmas if at all possible. If God and the IRS love me, maybe even another AR-15, just because I can.

The IRS would really have to love us this year for me to get an AR. I think anything we get will be put to use paying off outstanding debt so if the end comes, we won't have to worry about that.

Good point...

I could buy a com-bloc Romanian AK-74 and a Dragunov clone (or, 3 AK-74s) for the price of a Sig 556...

You know you just want to pick up some AK's with various stocks and lots of high capacity magazines for them. And the uber cheap Wolf black box ammo works just fine in them! You can't lose.

I hate to get this back on topic....

But here is the text of the bill. Note that it is "REINSTATEMENT FOR 10 YEARS OF REPEALED CRIMINAL PROVISIONS RELATING TO ASSAULT WEAPONS AND LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICES" - not permanently.

I still think this will be put on the back burner to wait for a Democratic President, or Republican gun-grabber, to come to office in 2009. There are quite a few Democrats who understand that this is a losing issue for them and prefer to not churn the waters too much until after the 2008 elections. But it will be back.

It still amazes me that they think they can lower crime and murders with passages of bills such as this. When will lawmakers realize, that if people want to commit a crime, they are going to. All the laws on the books are not going to stop them.

Let's stop making MORE stupid laws.

Posted

Well folks, if they pass that law, EVERY one of my firearms , and my S/Os' with the exception of Julies' Rossi .38 and her Derringer will be Illegal!

I will tell you right now.

No. they can't have my weapons

No, they can't buy them.

I will vote against this bill and if it passes, I will willingly go in contravention to the Law.

Furthermore,I cordially and sincerely invite them to go straight to hell.

we live now in a society where these laws are flouted by the powerful and the lawless... (note that many of the senators and high muckety mucks have body guards with weapons...who made their life more valuable than anyone elses???) and I am not about to bow to the stupidity of others. Just because someone says something is right, doesn't make it so.

Who was it that said that "self defense was natures first right" or something to that effect.
