It's Raining On My Feet Again

John Duncan, our congressional rep from the 2nd district, just sent me a letter to lure my vote for his re-election. After saying that he's a fiscal conservative, he makes this pitch:

If all members of Congress had voted as i have, the federal government would have lived within its means and we would not be in the deep hole we are in today. I do not believe in spending money we do not have.

This coming from one of the bozos who went along with the Washington establishment and voted to raise the debt ceiling at Boehner's and Obama's bidding. I wrote back and told him I was voting for Joseph Leinweber. He may be a liar too, for all I know, but he hasn't insulted my intelligence yet.

That is great. I sent a similar email to Ron Ramsey about the Safe Commute bill "don't insult my Inteligence" and he blocked my email address.

I haven't read Duncan's reasoning about the debt ceiling vote, but the National Taxpayers Union named him the most frugal member of the house. He votes against higher spending almost all the time. Look, I think almost every member of the house and senate should be replaced, but Duncan is way down on my list of one's too worry about.

I've supported Duncan since I came to Tennessee in '03 and agreed with him on just about everything except his opposition to the Iraq War. It's demoralizing to the troops to say they're fighting for a useless cause. But we're not going to change government without changing its leadership. When I start getting letters from politicos that brag about something that I know to be untrue, it's time for them to go.
